An honor for Tribeca CERT
Team Chief Jean Grillo will represent CERT teams city-wide
at September 11, 2009 memorial services at the World Trade Center.

Sponsored by the NYC Office of Emergency Management, the Tribeca-Soho CERT team is a group of neighborhood residents trained by police officers and firefighters in:

  • Disaster Preparedness
  • Fire Safety
  • Disaster Medical Operations
  • Light Search & Rescue
  • Disaster Mental Health
  • Neighborhood Preparedness
  • And much more!

We don’t fight fires, enter heavily damaged or dangerous buildings.  We don't perform hazardous cleanups, medical or search and rescue operations beyond our level of training.   But we can and will preserve the lives of our neighbors until help arrives.

Lower Manhattan residents understand that in a catastrophic event where cops and firefighters have to be someplace else, we are on our own.   Blackouts, fires, floods and other natural disasters do happen:  CERT training is one way that we can prepare ourselves to help our families and our neighbors.
